More than half a century has passed when the Republic Act 4565 – An Act to Regulate the Practice of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering in the Philippines was modernized to present law under Republic Act No. 10698 (http://www.gov.ph/2015/11/13/republic-act-no-10698/).
Last June 21, 2016 marks the signing of the Implementing Rules and Regulations of this RA 10698 by Chairman Hon. Teofilo S. Pilando, Jr.
This endeavour will never become a reality without the whole-hearted and dedicated work of Cong. Jess Manalo of ANGKLA Party-list.
The passage of this law will serve as the modern regulatory framework for the practice of the profession that will lead in further strengthening the practice of our naval architecture profession and continuous upgrading of the competency of the members of the Society of Naval Architects & Marine Engineers, Inc. (SONAME). With this IRR of RA 10698, it promotes the Continuing Professional Development policy of the national government for all professions.
