Dear Esteemed Members of SONAME,
With reference to Republic Act No. 10698 or the “Naval Architecture Law of 2015”, its Implementing Rules and Regulations (attachment1) and the RA 10912 or Continuing Professional Development Act of 2016 (attachments2) or “An Act Mandating and Strengthening the Continuing Professional Development Program for all Regulated Professions, Creating the Continuing Professional Development Council and Appropriating Funds thereof,” which lapsed into law last June 30, 2016, we are wish to highlight the following:

SEC. 22. Integrated and Accredited Professional Organization
All naval architects whose names appear in the registry book of the Board shall automatically become members of the APO and shall receive all the benefits and privileges appurtenant thereto, upon payment of membership fees and dues. Membership in this APO shall not be a bar to membership in other professional associations, maritime-related or not.
Compliance to CPD programs as promulgated by the Commission shall be one of the requirements for the maintenance of membership in good standing in the APO.
Failure to maintain membership in good standing with the APO shall be a cause for delisting from the roster of professionals

Kindly note further that the requirements for issuance of membership in good standing are the following:
- Up-to-date Annual Dues – As per SONAME Board Resolution No 001-2016 dated July 27, 2016, our annual dues is set at PHP2500.00 for Fellow, Regular and Associate Members effective October 1, 2016. Members may also opt to adopt below payment schemes:
Annual – PHP 2, 500
Semi-annual – PHP 1,300
Quarterly – PHP 700
Monthly – PHP250
Affiliate Members at PHP 1, 500.00

Members with expertise are enjoined to propose any specific CPD events which you may want to include. As per PRC Guidelines on CPD requirements (as attached), to maintain your professional license, a registered naval architect is required to earn 45 credit units within the 3-year validity period of his license.
- No adverse report to the PRC nor violation of the Code of Ethics ((attachment3) and Minimum Basic Fees (attachment4) issued by PRC and your good Society (as attached)
